About Rented & Rooted

This is a home blog for people who don't own their walls.

If you rent (an apartment, a studio, a room in a shared house, whatever), most decorating advice is kind of useless. Knock out a wall! Retile the kitchen! Sure. We write about the other stuff. Changes that make a small place work better and feel more like yours, and that you can undo before the final walk-through.

What's here

Removable fixes, mostly. Peel-and-stick, plug-in, tension rods, things that stand on their own. Layout help for studios and living rooms that feel cramped. Honest notes on plants for dark apartments (a lot of "low light" plants are lying to you). And a budget-first habit of starting with what you already own before buying anything.

How we write this

Our guides draw on manufacturer instructions, extension-service and horticulture references like the ASPCA plant list, and the kind of advice renters swap all the time. We don't make up statistics, and we won't pretend we tested something we didn't. When a post mentions a type of product, it explains what to look for so you can pick for yourself.

Spot something wrong or out of date? Tell us and we'll fix it.

And please check your lease and ask your landlord before you change things. Even "renter-friendly" stuff can mark some paint finishes. Do the patch test. Every time.
